Saturday, Nov 1, 2025 Let‘s get an early start to 2026. It will be a great year to hike our breathtakingly beautiful East Tennessee areas. The Cove at Concord Park is a perfect spot to sign up to lead your favorite or not so favorite hike. Sign up sheets will be available. We just need an idea of where we want to hike in 2026. Remember nothing is set in stone and subject to change. Let‘s meet at 12 noon at the Cove. Look for the picnic tables that have the hikers eating delicious KFC. KFC chicken will be provided and please bring a side to share. After we plan and eat, we can enjoy a 2 ½ mile hike around the cove. Pre-registration is adv?ised. We’ll touch on several different trails but they’re all easy, no significant elevation changes. We’ll past through woodlands and see Creekside habitats showcasing a variety of wildlife and natural plants as well as remnants, stairs, building foundations and other remains of pre-Manhattan project settlements. Also, we’ll see parts of the Quarry, the Quarry Lake and old cemeteries. The hike is about 6 miles. We’ll meet in Oak Ridge at the Books-A-Million parking lot nearest Illinois Ave for carpooling to the trail head because parking is limited, leaving at 9:00am. Their happy hour is from 4 to 6. The appetizer favorites are Bang Bang Shrimp, Sea Bass, and Crispy Cauliflower. No Turkey yet!!!
